CPM Force

The CPM Force program delivers an advanced, patient-triggered rehabilitation therapy combining Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) with biofeedback-driven force thresholds. This integration provides a highly interactive and adaptive training environment designed to encourage active patient participation, promote neuromuscular re-education, and safely mobilize joints within precise, force-monitored boundaries.

Key Feature: Force-Triggered Passive Motion (Trigger & Release / Trigger & Hold)

Unlike standard automated CPM modes, the CPM Force program relies directly on the patient’s effort to initiate or sustain movement. Utilizing an integrated tensometer (torque sensor), the system requires the patient to exert a voluntary movement that exceeds a predefined force threshold.

  • In “Trigger & Release” mode, once the patient surpasses the threshold, the device automatically executes the programmed passive movement within full range of motion.

  • In “Trigger & Hold” mode, the patient must actively maintain the required pressure/force throughout the entire range of motion to keep the device moving, maximizing muscle engagement and cognitive control.

Configuration Parameters:
  • Triggering Method: Defines how the patient interacts with the device to initiate movement, offering options such as Trigger & Release (one-time threshold breakthrough) or Trigger & Hold (sustained effort required).

  • Chosen Trigger Tensometer (Torque / Extension): Selects the specific sensor configuration used to measure the patient’s physical effort. “Extension” refers to the key extension equipped with a pinchmeter, while “Torque” refers to all the others, where movement is activated by applying a rotational force.

  • Force Threshold: The adjustable sensitivity level that the patient must overcome to trigger or sustain the device’s movement.

  • Maximum Force (Safety Threshold): The safe upper limit for resistance. The device will immediately stop if the patient’s muscle guarding, sudden spasticity, or resistance exceeds this preset safety limit.

  • Range of Motion (ROM): The safe angular limits (minimum and maximum angles) of the joint’s movement, fully adjustable to match the current capabilities of the patient.

  • Movement Speed: The velocity of the extension movement (measured in degrees per second) during the passive phase once triggered.

  • Pauses (Min/Max Range Pause): Adjustable rest intervals at the terminal positions (e.g., maximum extension or maximum flexion) between consecutive movement cycles.

  • Repetitions (Session Length): Defined by the total exercise duration or a specific target number of repetitions to complete the training session.
