Force sensors for CAM exercises
Sidra LEG is equipped with 3 strain gauges to measure the patient’s pressure force. They are located:
- in the thigh area for the “knee” strain gauge
- in the midfoot area for the “toe” strain gauge
- in the heel area for the “heel” strain gauge
The generated force applied to the strain gauges triggers the robot’s movement during Isokinetic and Torque CAM exercises.
For the knee strain gauge, the thigh straps must fit snugly to transfer forces to the sensor. Furthermore, considering the biomechanics of the lower limb, attention should be paid to heel positioning. Closing the biokinematic chain by strongly stabilizing the heel can prevent movement, so it is recommended to loosen it slightly.
For the other two strain gauges (toe and heel), both the straps and the surfaces adjacent to the sensors should fit snugly against the limb.
