Assisted triple flexion and extension
The video presents an exercise of assisted triple flexion and extension of the lower limb, especially recommended in cases of muscle weakness of various origins.
Exercise used: CPM + EMG + EMS
Settings:
-
EMS – bidirectional (lub: reciprocal/biphasic)
-
Electrode placement – tibialis anterior, rectus femoris
-
Movement trigger and EMS for flexion – tibialis anterior
-
Movement trigger and EMS for extension – rectus femoris
The patient’s task is to generate activity in the tibialis anterior muscle for the flexion movement and in the rectus femoris muscle for extension. Electrostimulation additionally enhances muscle contraction, synchronized with movement in both directions.
This exercise, depending on the situation, can also be performed in the CPM + EMG or CPM + EMS variants.
